It seems convenient to use the fish base in folding an origami bird because the rabbit ears of the base can readily be conveted into wings. This is what I did for the toco toucan, and even for my dragon model. Then for the parrot model above. The tail of the bird was folded such that it shows the other side, the white side, of the paper. Folding the beak was quite challenging because you start with a rather long flap.
