enhanced star box

In Boxes on June 22, 2012 by romi

This is another easy application of blintzing to enhance the look of a simple classic model– in this case, the star box.
The procedure is simple:

1. Fold the blintz base.
2. Mountain fold each of the four flaps that meet at the center such that the tip of the flap touches the corresponding edge of the paper.
3. Proceed with folding the traditional star box. You can easily figure out how the four extra flaps or petais are created.

The model of the masu box with petals which I posted earlier is also folded following the first two steps described above.

I’ve also made other variations of the classic star box using point splitting and strip grafting.

And transforming the classiic model into a Pegasus is easy and fun to do.
